Sending setup

Send with your own Amazon SES or let Cortex Digital Hub send for you. Either way your emails go out from your own domain: add the DKIM, SPF and DMARC records shown here and watch them turn green.

Your own Amazon SES or Cortex: which one?

Both send from your domain with your DKIM signature. The difference is whose Amazon SES account does the sending and who pays Amazon.

The records, in plain words

  • DKIM (three CNAME records) sign every email with your domain, so Gmail and Outlook can tell it really came from you.
  • Bounce subdomain, MX and SPF (custom MAIL FROM, for example bounce.yourbrand.com) lets Amazon SES send for your domain and receive bounces, without touching your office email.
  • DMARC (one TXT record) tells inboxes what to do with emails that fail the checks. Gmail and Yahoo require it for bulk senders. Start with p=none and tighten it later.

Step-by-step help: Set up Amazon SES, other sending services and connect your LMS or CRM.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need DNS records if Cortex sends for me?

Yes. In both cases emails go out from your own domain, so you add three DKIM records, a bounce subdomain with MX and SPF records, and a DMARC record at the company that manages your domain. The setup page shows the exact values and checks them live.

Are my Amazon SES keys safe?

Keys are tested with Amazon before saving, stored encrypted, and used only to send your email and read your SES status. Use a key that can only send, as shown in the policy on the page, and remove it here or deactivate it in AWS IAM at any time.

Does anything change on my website?

No. The records are added in your domain's DNS settings (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Hostinger, BigRock and others), not in your website's code. Your existing website and office email keep working.

How do leads from my LMS reach Cortex Mail?

Create an API key on the page and have your LMS, CRM or a connector such as Zapier post each new lead to the contacts address with that key. Contacts are matched by email so nobody is added twice.
