Get tables out of a PDF into Excel
Retyping a statement into Excel is slow and error-prone. If the PDF has a text layer, its columns can be detected from the text positions and written straight into a spreadsheet.
Quick answer. Open PDF to Excel, drop the PDF, choose one sheet per page or one sheet for all pages, keep "First row is a header" and "Numbers as numbers" on, and press Convert. Columns are detected from the text positions, numbers (including Indian 1,23,456.00 formatting) become real numbers you can sum, and the .xlsx opens in Excel or Google Sheets. The conversion runs in your browser; the file is never uploaded.

Step by step
- Open PDF to Excel and drop the statement or report.
- Choose One sheet per page (statements) or One sheet, all pages (long tables).
- Keep header detection and Numbers as numbers on; set a page range if only some pages have tables.
- Convert, open in Excel, add your formulas.
Tips that save a second attempt
- Scanned statements have no text layer and come out empty; ask the bank for the digital PDF or OCR it first.
- Merged or wrapped cells in the PDF can shift a column; check totals against the PDF before relying on them.
- Negative amounts shown as (1,000) or with Dr/Cr suffixes are kept as text; use Excel's Text to Columns if you need them numeric.
Frequently asked questions
Why are two columns merged into one?
The PDF placed them too close for the gap detector. Try the other sheet mode, or widen the table by converting fewer pages at once.
Does it handle password-protected PDFs?
Remove the password first (open with the password and print to PDF); the converter cannot open encrypted files.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser on your device.
